Literature Text

Their words like drops of acid rain
on my skin irrigate the pain
that grows with every passing day -
I wish I could weed it out my way,
with lethal force in my own hands,
like a god who 'gainst mortals stands -
but bound by distance and loneliness
I cannot fill the emptiness
with the blood of this flock of sheep
who, their cozy stables to keep,
act like wolves if I disagree.
So I've decided not to see
their words no more: click Block and forget,
for now, existential regret -
a day will come, when seas no more
stretch 'tween me and the golden shore
where I can own my life again
with a steel-boned friend in my hand.
When you are one against many and it's just pointless, sometimes you need to push a button and move on.

Mmmm. I love the imagery and extended metaphor in this poem.
